Secondary School Prefects Workshop

Secondary School Prefects Workshop

The Education Secretariat organized a one day induction workshop for our Secondary Schools Prefect’s Boards on the 24th of March at Rockwood Spiritual Centre. The workshop was targeted at empowering the Prefects with Leadership skills that will allow them to be Leaders and not Rulers.

Our facilitators for this workshop were the Potter’s 12 Stone Community. Potter’s 12 Stone was formed in 2014 and we has experienced and passionate individuals who are life coaches, teen coaches, business coaches, counsellors and ubabaloo coaches. Some members are regional facilitators for the international Sports Coalition under Ready Set goal. Potter’s means building /creating derived from the book of Jeremiah and the 12 stone are the stones which were put on the ground after the passage of Israelites from Egypt and these stones represented tribes.

Then a leadership and team work lesson derived from the Geese from Western Canada and they were 5 lessons from them;

  1. Flying in V formation and this causes them to increase their Travelling distance by 71 % than wen its flying alone and the gees and the focal point provides vision
  2. They honk when they are flying this is encouragement n celebration
  3. When one of them gets shot whilst flying two geese out of e formation goes down with it and this is about being our brother’s keeper
  4. After every 3-7 months they go back to the place they were born and this a sense of identity they look back from where they have been
  5. Taking turns to lead impulsively

 We look forward to having more of these workshops that will help empower our youngsters with quality leadership skills in both Primary and Secondary Schools.
